Self-Care with Thermae Beauty
Gone are the days where organic self-care products are easily found, day-to-day; products that include high-grade ingredients, and are truly gentle on the skin. And the select few which meet those criteria, well, they tend to be quite expensive as well.
Growing up with a mild-aggressive form of perioral dermatitis, life wasn’t easy. I felt as if I was on a torturous treasure hunt when seeking skin care products that didn’t aggravate my skin further. I slowly formed a barrier between myself and the mainstream skincare and makeup industry – nothing, and I mean nothing, touched my skin unless I was 100% sure the ingredients were coming from a quality source, and that the product would do me no harm. Anyway, I have found my holy-grail products now, but the focus of this blog post isn’t on that – that post is coming soon. The focus on this post is to review a new product & brand that I have recently come across, and one that I have given the tick of approval!
Activated Charcoal Soap
This was super nourishing, and smelled amazing! You could really draw out the scents from the essential oils that are infused into this soap.
The charcoal in this soap has the ability to draw away excess sebum and toxins, so it is ideal for oily skin types. I have combination skin, and the soap worked perfectly fine for me, especially as it has super nourishing oils infused into it; olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and jojoba oil! I used this on my face and body, however I would personally prefer to stick to the body for this one simply because of the exquisite smell (ummm hello Rose Geranium)!
Can we also just take note of this soap and how it contains Pure 24 Carat Gold Leaves?! It’s quite suitable for us goddesses.
Arabica Coffee Body Scrub
When I opened this scrub, I was hit with a wave of coffee and delicious mint extract! I was genuinely excited to use this because of the smell! Most coffee scrubs I have used in the past simply smell like coffee, but this had something extra, something different. Black Mamba also has Calendula Extract which relieves itching and dry skin (which I was super excited about trying because I’ve heard so many great things about Calendula).
Once I was using the scrub, I immediately felt that refreshing feeling you get when anything minty comes near you! You know when you have a piece of gum and then a sip of water – how FRESH is that feeling, right? Well that’s what it was like on my skin – exfoliated, fresh, and SOFT (the jojoba oil that’s infused into this scrub definitely played a part in this).
Pink Australian Clay Soap
This soap was ah-maze-ing. Like, proper. The natural exfoliating effect coupled with the nourishing oils was such a treat while washing my face! This soap, as beautiful as it is, actually worked a treat for giving me the feeling of soft, glowy and supple skin. One thing I noticed was that my face didn’t feel too dry afterwards, which was great, especially when having the feeling of dryness right after washing your face is a typical response for a dermatitis sufferer.
This beauty is made with olive oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, cocoa butter, and pink Australian clay (this acts as a natural skin exfoliant – it’s super rich in minerals as it’s a result from volcanic action).
The scent wasn’t as strong and striking as the Black Rose, however, it still smelled beautiful! This also adds reason as to why I would prefer to use this one on the face! The essential oils infused in this soap are well known to have high anti-inflammatory properties, as well as provide a soothing sensation for irritated skin (although appropriate for all skin types); these include orange sweet, black pepper, and fennel sweet essential oils.
And this soap contains Pure Bronze Leaf. Ummm. Can’t. Deal.
Spice Delight Bath Salt
100% Dead Sea Salt
Can I just say, bathing in this is absolutely divine – cinnamon chips infused with a blend of cinnamon, cardamon, nutmeg and black pepper essential oils! I adore cinnamon especially because it really makes me feel warm and cosy. Cinnamon, to me, is one of my favorite winter smells, so I highly recommend trying this salt bath out while the weather is still cold *cough, Melbourne*. Bathing in this blend is great because it is also a natural skin astringent due to the dead sea salts which have come straight from Isreal. I definitely came out feeling refreshed and ready for bed.
